        Al parecer se llamará Diva.

        [i]Alfa Romeo stapt van typeaanduidingen in cijfers af. De langverwachte opvolger van de 166 krijgt een naam die een vlaggenschip waardig is: Diva.

        Het Franse l’Automobile meldt dat de opvolger van de Alfa 166 wordt verwacht in 2012 en Diva zal gaan heten. Het wordt een nieuwe vlaggenschip in de Alfa-reeks. Die wordt gemist sinds in december 2007 de productie van de 166 stopte.

        Sindsdien doen verschillende geruchten over de nieuwe grote Alfa de ronde. Er zou samenwerking met Jaguar zijn gezocht om het achterwielaangedreven platform te lenen van de XF. Ook zou er een vrijerij met Maserati zijn geweest dat met de techniek Quattroporte eveneens een kandidaat in huis heeft om Diva-donor te zijn.

        De nieuwe samenwerking met Chrysler werpt echter een geheel nieuw licht op de zaak. Volgens het Franse blad zou Alfa gebruik kunnen maken van het onderstel van de 300C die nog altijd is gebaseerd op de techniek van de Mercedes E-klasse van twee generaties geleden. Alfa Romeo staat voor de Diva klaar met zelf ontwikkelde een 284 pk sterke V6 met directe brandstofinjectie. Die beleeft overigens in 2011 zijn debuut in 159-opvolger Giulia. Met turbo’s zou de V6 goed zijn voor een vermogen van 340 pk. Daarmee is het een ideale vervanger voor de 5,7-liter Hemi-motor van de 300C[/i]

                                [i]We’ve already brought you word that Chrysler’s LX platform was expected to underpin the next-gen Alfa Romeo 169 sedan, and a new report today claims that the 169 will be built in North America.

                                The report, which comes by way of Inside Line, says the Brampton, Ontario plant will be the most likely choice for consruction of the new Alfa since it is already where Chrysler builds the LX-based 300C. The report also states that it won’t be the LX platform underpinning the 169, but an all-new Chrysler platform–one that will also form the basis of the next-gen 300C.

                                The Alfa Romeo version won’t use the same engines, however, with the Italian marque getting its own suspension as well, helping to ensure there will be dynamic as well as aesthetic differences between the two cars. That will be important for U.S. buyers, but also because the 169 will be exported to Europe from North America, and Europeans don’t share America’s taste for soft and floaty large sedans.

                                Alfa’s 169 is expected to start around the $40,000 mark in the U.S., and should target a position roughly equivalent to the Cadillac CTS and BMW 3-series in terms of features and output. One possible engine for the car could be a version of the new Pentastar 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6, though whether that would qualify as a unique powertrain for the Alfa model isn’t yet clear. It’s more likely that the Pentastar engine will be reserved for Chrysler and Fiat models, with the Alfa getting its own mill.[/i]

                                  Que lo hagan en Canadá, no me importa mucho. Que lleve plataforma Chrysler tampoco si facilita la vuelta de Alfa a la tracción trasera (no cuento el 8C), porque entiendo que la del Quattroporte era mucho pedir. Pero lo de los motores Pentastar/Phoenix, eso sí que no. Un seis cilindros italiano y moderno sí o sí.

                                              en las imagenes se le ve muy expuesto esa delantera, creo que un poco mas recta en todo su frontal no esataria nada mal ,la parte trasera tira a sosilla , pero elegante .
                                              yo siempre he hechado de menos el espacio interior en los modelos de alfa , estan muy bien diseñados , pero pecan mucho en cuanto al espacio para viajar simplemente 4 personas , lo veo muy , muy justo , a ver si con este modelo se resuelve un poco esa situación .De medidas se sabe algo?????
