This 5-series based Progressive Activity Sedan will likely be called V5 and should be unveiled at the end of this year.Now according to Autocar, BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer has confirmed that the firm will also launch a smaller, more affordable luxury crossover to accompany next year’s 5-series PAS.
This smaller BMW Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS) will be based on the facelifted 3-series, due in 2010. 3-series PAS will be bigger than the Touring but smaller than the new X3. No information on the name, but if the 5-series based PAS will be called V5, then this one is surely going to be called V3.
Both rear-wheel drive and 4WD version will be offered. Engines are likely to be the same as on the 3-series range. The car will go on sale earliest in 2011.

Prefacelift y facelift comparten toda la base técnica por igual. Probarlo sobre un modelo recientemente lanzado puede inducir a pensar que están probando nuevos cambios para este mismo modelo.
Además, este nuevo Serie 3 lleva plataforma nueva; Fíjáos en los pasos de rueda que esconden que es más ancho y la batalla también es más larga que el actual.

Many automakers are looking for new ways to attract customers. BMW has been doing this by creating cars to fill gaps in the marketplace.It is no surprise then that BMW would look for an additional model to add to their 3 Series lineup. The 3 Series represents a large portion of worldwide BMW sales. Its creation in the 1970s doubled worldwide sales.
BMW will be paying very strict attention to the debut of the 5 Series GT, with the hope that it gets a similarly positive reaction as the release of the X5 ten years ago. In the same way that the X5 spawned a new line of vehicles for BMW, the 5er GT could lead to both a 3 Series GT and a 1 Series GT.
The 5er GT was created to appeal to older customers who want a less sporting car, but do not want the ride height of the X6. Speculation says that a 3er GT wiill appeal to those wanting the performance of BMW’s most popular car, the versatility of a hatchback, and a lower ride height than the X3. Such customers could be weekend athletes and couples with one or two children.
Supposedly called the Progressive Activity Coupe, or the V3, the rear-wheel-drive 3er GT would likely have a higher roofline than the 3 Series wagon, a longer wheelbase, and a nice amount of cabin space. All-wheel-drive would be an option, and a hybrid version is also possible.

Tiene algo de X1 Concept.24 febrero, 2009 a las 19:22Dicen que el cancelado CS iba a ser parte de la gama GT. Si vienen un 1 y un 3 por debajo del 5 GT puede que alguno se le parezca. 
25 febrero, 2009 a las 08:35Independientemente de lo cruel de extender esta gama 😀 lo de jng tiene mucho sentido…un coupé de 4p en la gama del serie 3 sería lo más lógico..A ver cuanto tardan en poner el CS con las medidas del 3, aunque, igual ya lo ponen para la siguiente generación…o bien toma rasgos del CS directamente..
PD: A mi me gustaría que hicieran como Audi va a hacer con el A5…mucho más accesibles que un CLS o un A7..
