This is welcomed by some who have criticized the baby Bimmer for being a stub-nosed version of the 3-Series, but we instantly forgive the car because it is the closest thing BMW has given us to the model 2002 in a long time. We love the 1-Series because it combines light wight with large engines (the twin turbo 135i has performance figures close to the old M3.)The company is now preparing the next generation 1-Series (codename F20) that will likely show up between September 2010 and March 2011. It will come with new engines and EfficientDynamics technology as standard. The international gas powerplants and trims should be as follows: 116i – 1.3 liter turbo 136 hp, 118i – 177 hp 1.3 liter turbo, 120i – 218 hp 2.0 liter turbo, 130i – 272 hp 3.0 liter, 135is – 326 hp 3.0 liter twin turbo.
And diesel: 118d – 150 hp 2.0 liter turbo, 120d – 2.0 184 hp liter turbo, 123d – 211 hp 2.0 liter twin turbo.
As long as BMW mess with the 1-Series, chemistry (large engines, light weight and classic BMW handling), the new little Bimmer can show up with a pig nose in hot pink paint, and we’ll still happily drive the doors off it.

However, on the other side of the pond BMW offers the 1-Series in those aforementioned body styles, but also gives European consumers the choice of 3- and 5-door hatchbacks. That lineup looks to be growing to five models as BMW is reportedly considering one more 1-Series derivative.According to Klaus Draeger, BMW’s product development head, the German automaker is considering a ‘shooting brake’ version of the 1-Series. The shooting brake would be similar in concept to the 3-door 1-Series, but would take on the flowing lines and low-slung roof of a two-door coupe (think Mercedes-Benz Fascination Concept).Draeger told AutoBild that the 1-Series shooting brake would be a ‘lifestyle’ vehicle for BMW, and would continue the automaker’s production theme of niche vehicles. That being said, the shooting brake hasn’t officially been green lighted for production, but looks to have a fairly good shot of being produced when the next 1-Series hits the market in late 2011. BMW brass would only put the brakes on the shooting brake if it was considered too close in competition to the company’s MINI Cooper.
Although hatch versions of the 1-Series are currently reserved for the European market, BMW would likely market the shooting brake in America. No ‘M’ model is planned but the next 1-Series should offer a new double-clutch gearbox and a new range of four and six-cylinder engines.If the 1-Series shooting brake ultimately gets the go ahead, we could see it in U.S. BMW showrooms as soon as early 2012.

Posible versión familiar de tres puertas si finalmente no se ve peligro de canibalizar al Mini.
Y adiós a las versiones de 3 y 5 puertas en EE.UU.
27 noviembre, 2008 a las 19:02No le veo mucho sentido a sacar un shooting brake sobre la Serie 1. Acaban de cancelar la berlina deportiva CS, que tenía pinta de poder venderse muy bien… ¿y van a sacar un modelo que no tiene ningún competidor y que sus posibles ventas son una incognita? Si Audi y Mercedes han decidido no fabricar en serie sus concepts Shooting Brake y Fascination por algo será. Aunque me parezcan atractivos este tipo de coches, creo que no tienen mercado.
Lo que tienen que hacer con el Serie 1 es mejorar mucho el diseño interior.28 noviembre, 2008 a las 12:55Esos motores son fruto de la relacion con PSA o serán desarrollo exclusivo bmw. No tiene razon de ser el mini serie1 teniendo en la casa un top ventas como es el mini que es insustituible.

Dudo mucho que cueste mucho desarrollarlo al estar basado en un modelo ya existente (al contrario que el CS que iba a ser un modelo único). Por otra parte, el tener un modelo de estas características hace que sea único en el mercado. Es como hizo Mercedes con el CLS que se vendió tan bien al no tener equivalente. 9 diciembre, 2008 a las 15:04Si tuviera otro color, lo calificaría como bonito, pero así feo. El coche se ve estupendo, la rtasera musculosa y bien proporcionada. El coche coge muchos rasgos del CS y eso le hace ser bastante bonito.
