Renault unveils the New Clio, the latest version of its popular best-seller

Twenty-six years after the launch of the original Clio, a model that has sold 13 million units worldwide, Renault has today renewed its best-seller with the introduction of the new CLIO.

The new CLIO packs even more seductive appeal thanks to its lighting signature and full-LED Pure Vision head lights, as well as the incorporation of new styling details and finishes.

The new CLIO delivers one of the market’s most extensive powertrain line-ups.

Styling: the new CLIO keeps all of its promises
The fourth-generation Clio was the first Renault model to feature the brand’s new styling identity in 2012. Thanks to a full-LED lighting signature, including C-shaped daytime running lights in the case of certain versions, the new CLIO continues to refresh Renault’s design identity. At the front, the grille which houses the Renault diamond has been redesigned, as has the lower part of the grille which is wider to add an even more modern feel to the front end. At the rear, the skirt has been redesigned for additional robustness.
Four new body colours have been added (Intense Red, Titanium Grey, Pearlescent White and Iron Blue), with a selection of new wheel and wheel trim designs, plus a more extensive personalisation programme.

The new CLIO benefits from the use of finishing materials previously reserved for Renault’s higher-end models. All the upholsteries are new and special attention has been paid to the tactile and visual quality of the plastics’ grain-effect finish. The chrome trim features a more subdued, matt finish and the colours are more refined. In short, the new Clio forms a higher end package which strikes a desirable balance between seductive exterior styling and a high-quality interior finish.

Driving pleasure, connectivity and agility to address all types of use
The powerful, fuel-efficient 1.5 dCi 110 diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox is a new addition to the new CLIO’s powertrain catalogue, as is the availability of six-speed manual transmission for the TCe 120 petrol engine. As a result, the new CLIO boasts one of the market’s most extensive powertrain ranges thanks to a choice of 11 engine/transmission combinations.
To provide customers with a range of options, the new CLIO comes with three different connected multimedia systems, namely Media Nav Evolution, Renault R-Link Evolution and the new, smart R&Go system which is available for all equipment levels. The new CLIO is the first B-segment Renault to be available with Bose quality sound for a memorable audio experience, while a suite of driving aids makes the new car even more versatile and nimble.
In addition to its rear parking sensor, and depending on the version, the new Clio offers a front parking sensor and a reversing camera. Available for higher-end versions, Easy Park Assist allows the driver to delegate the completion of parking manoeuvres.

An Initiale Paris version available from launch
The INITIALE PARIS signature offers the ultimate in Renault travelling comfort and amenities, with an exclusive choice of colours and materials. Features include an exclusive body colour Givré Grey (metallic finish), a steering wheel trimmed in full-grain Nappa padded leather, a full-grain Nappa leather-trimmed gear lever, specific door panel and dashboard trimming and enveloping leather seats in either black or black-and-white. The INITIALE PARIS version of the new CLIO also stands apart from the rest of the range thanks to the following standard equipment: BOSE® premium audio, LED Pure Vision head lights and C-shaped LED daytime running lights, the R-LINK Evolution multimedia system complete with connected services, reversing camera and Easy Park Assist.
There is a choice of two different petrol engines (90hp or 120hp) and two diesel units (90hp or 110hp) for the new CLIO INITIALE PARIS, with either manual or EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Order books open this summer and the model will begin to be seen on the streets in September.

The new CLIO price list for France, including the Initiale Paris version, is available on our media website.

                          Vamos a recordarlo jeje

Si, esta bien, cambio acertado pero me habría gustado ver como quedaba con faros más pequeños. Ahora bien, sobre el interior, me conformo con que hayan mejorado la calidad de los plásticos.

                                          – Two powerplants and three chassis: the new Clio R.S packs a host of technologies for immediate driving pleasure
                                          – The Clio R.S. features R.S. VISION lighting as a standard feature – a world first
                                          – Clio R.S. Trophy gains an exclusive Akrapovič exhaust system
                                          – The GT-Line pack provides the Clio with a smart sporty look, both inside and out

The new Clio R.S. 200 EDC, Clio R.S. Trophy and Clio GT-Line incorporate the advances offered by the new Clio and further enhance that package by drawing on Renault Sport’s wealth of knowledge and expertise. ”The new Clio R.S. offers the full spectrum of Renault Sport technology for immediate driving pleasure. At launch, each customer will be able to choose from three types of chassis and two powerplants. The model also inaugurates the highly efficient and innovative R.S. VISION lighting system, Renault Sport’s exclusive lighting signature,” announced Patrice Ratti, CEO, Renault Sport Cars.

Exhaust line, power output, chassis: a unique package in its segment

The new Clio R.S. is available with a choice of two petrol engines (200hp and 220hp) on the Trophy version, mated to six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

It is the only car in its class to offer three different types of chassis, giving customers the opportunity to ‘tailor-build’ their own Clio R.S. The options are a Sport chassis with 17- or 18-inch wheels, emphasising versatility and everyday use; a strengthened Cup chassis with 18-inch wheels, providing the perfect blend of road and circuit driving characteristics; or a Trophy chassis with 18-inch wheels, lowered by 20mm at the front and 10mm at the rear to place the focus firmly on driving pleasure.

Uniquely in its segment, the Trophy version can be specified with an exclusive exhaust system inspired by the Clio R.S 16 concept car and developed in tandem with industry specialist Akrapovič which imbues the engine with an instantly recognisable sound and ensures sprightly acceleration. Patrice Ratti says, “We are working with renowned suppliers committed to motorsport such as Akrapovič to forge ever stronger links between the track and the road”.

The 200hp powerplant is available with the Sport and Cup chassis, while the 220hp unit can be selected for the Trophy variants. The 220hp Trophy version is capable of out-performing all other sporty vehicles in its class, taking just 6.6 seconds to sprint from 0-100kph, 14.5 seconds to cover 400m from a standing start and going on to reach a top speed of 235kph.

The Clio R.S. also innovates with an unprecedented equipment package for the segment, including Launch Control, the R.S. Drive system which enables a choice of three driving modes (Normal, Sport and Race), the R.S. Monitor application and hydraulic compression bump stops developed by Renault Sport for rallying.

R.S. VISION: a world first for additional multi-faceted LED lighting technology

The front end of the new CLIO R.S. is visually broader by virtue of a specific front bumper, and the car is completed by LED multi-faceted lighting in the form of a chequered flag called R.S. Vision, for a distinctive look and outstanding lighting performance. This exclusive technology, initially seen on the Clio R.S. 16 concept car, co-ordinates the vehicle’s fog lights, cornering lights, side lights and dipped and main beams to enhance night-time visibility.
The new Clio R.S. also offers new 18-inch wheels and specific sills. At the rear can be found a sporty spoiler, a functional diffuser and a twin exhaust tail pipe, while the rear lights carry over the C-shaped lighting signature. The Renault Sport (R.S.) logo appears underneath the Renault badge at the front of the car, on the wheels and at the rear.

                                          GT Line, a distinct style

With the GT-Line pack, the new Clio takes on a sporty look with forceful features that immediately set it apart. The Clio GT-Line is equipped with Dark Metal air scoops in the front bumper along with lateral sills (like the Clio R.S.), uniquely designed 16- or 17-inch wheels, as well as an exclusive exhaust with a chrome tail pipe and a Dark Metal rear bumper panel. The Clio GT-Line cabin is home to a blue design scheme and gains the perforated-leather steering wheel of the Clio R.S. with the GT-Line badge, Clio R.S. seats with special upholstery and an aluminium pedal set, all of which underscore the car’s sporty design.
